   DRUG/ALCOHOL ABUSE AMONG             THE YOUTHS
One of the major negative issues affecting the youths in Nigeria and the world at large is drug /alcohol abuse. This has really eaten deep into the lives of youths.
Many factors usually contribute to the influence of drug/alcohol abuse among the Nigerian youths, they are: peer group influence, parental background (broken home), emotional stress etc.
This group of people can be seen in the act everywhere in the society. We cannot say it is peculiar to youths from a particular tribe or region, they can be found in our families, churches, schools, markets, offices, etc.
The thing is, there are lots of dangers associated to this bad habit youths get themselves involved in. They normally use this expression “getting high” to express another realm/world they find themselves in any time they indulge in them.
Some of the drugs/alcohol commonly abused by youths are Heroin, Cocaine, morphine, ephedrine, Indian, Hemp, Tobaco, Ogogoro, burukutu, kai kai, akpeteshi, pito etc.
Disadvantages of drug/alcohol abuse are really disturbing. It affects the addicts in the following areas: academics, physical health, mental health, families, delinquency, stigmatization by peers etc.
I write to advice our future leaders (youths) to abstain from drug and alcohol abuse. When you waste your youthful age, you have lost it. Time waits for no one, you cannot eat your cake and have it. Serve God with your youthful age. Remember, you do not own your soul.

It was a very long queue and apparently people had become restless. Suddenly, a man dressed in white Agbada accompanied by a Police officer walked in. He looked at the queue for a while, then he headed towards the A.T.M machine while the Police officer who accompanied him stood very close. As soon as the person who was at the A.T.M was done, the man stretched forth to insert his A.T.M, then there was an uproar from the crowd. "Ahan! Oga! People were here before you nau!" Voices lamented. What Followed after that was quite...
