NIGERIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM : Factors responsible for the collapse of Nigerian Standard of Education
Nigerian educational system both on Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels are now shadows of themselves.  School systems have been neglected so much which has led to poor quality of students produced, that cannot compete with students from other countries.
Below are some of the Factors responsible for the collapse of Nigerian Standard of Education today in our country.
They are:
1 Incessant Government decision/policies: Government in the past, have taken unfavourable decisions that have really done a great harm in our Primary, Secondary and Tertiary schools in Nigeria. New government comes in with their own policies thereby abolishing the existing policies just to satisfy their selfish purposes instead of the general populace. Some examples are introduction of computer based post UME exams, introduction of a religious school uniform, hike in school fees, etc.
2 Independence of the Educational body: Nigerian Educational bodies should be independent if actually we desire the best from them. If reforms are not made, things will remain the same.
3 Incessant strikes: Strikes have been one of the major issues affecting the progress and growth of our Educational System in Nigeria. Government has failed severally in the aspect of providing the need of teachers in the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This has led to incessant strikes of several academic unions in Nigeria, leading to poor quality of education in the country.
4 Political instability: It is now clear that politics in Nigeria is characterized with violence, political corruption, unfulfilled promises, greed, tribalism etc which are really affecting the Nigerian Educational system negatively. Different parties emerge all the time, leading to different decisions.

5 Lack of basic infrastructure: Nigerian Educational system are suffering and lacking the basic infrastructures which are supposed to be provided by our Government. Because we lack them in our schools, it is difficult to have a sound educational background and atmosphere in schools today. Schools need good water, roads, electricity hospitals and more, to enhance learning process.
6 Not recruiting qualified teachers: Employing non qualified teachers to impact knowledge on our students have caused so much damage on our Educational system in Nigeria. Due to bribery and corruption, lack of finance, greed and many more, school Heads have ended up in recruiting unqualified teachers in their different schools and this is posing as a trait in our schools today.
These factors and many more, are reducing the standard of education in Nigeria. Except we handle them, Nigerian educational system will never get better.
My advice to our leaders is that they should invest in the development of all levels of our educational system because that is where our future leaders and family members are trained.
