                      A MESSAGE FOR THE YOUTHS!

CHALLENGES YOUTHS FACE WHILE SERCHING FOR EMPLOYMENT.

One of the biggest problems facing the youths of this country is unemployment. This has become a big issue in this present time. You struggle to get admission to study, when you finally do, you struggle to graduate and serve your fatherland. After that, you find yourself in the labour market.

A lot of youths have been victims of the following factors in the quest for seeking employment. Eligible applicants have been deprived the opportunity of being employed under Federal, State or Private sectors in Nigeria where they are citizens.

Some of these factors are highlighted below:

Tribalism: I have experienced this a lot when I went for interviews. Several occasions where I was more qualified than others, both in terms of qualification, experience and good performance during interviews, but because the HR is from a particular tribe that I did not belong, he had to ignore the most qualified and favoured the non qualified. This has been happening in different organisations till date.

Job Scam: So many youths have fallen victims of this because everybody is desperately looking for a job. You see fake job advert everywhere, youths have been robbed from the little token they have from these dubious agents by telling people to pay for forms, training , registrations etc, but turns out to be a scam at the end.

Sexual Harassment: Young ladies have been harassed and abused sexually by male recruiters / HR personnels who try to sleep with ladies before they could offer them a job. This is very bad, and should not be encouraged.

Referrals /connection: This also, is one of the problems job seekers faces in our country today. If you are not recommended or connected to a top management staff or HR of an organisation, you are wasting your time applying because your CV and application letter will be thrown into a waste basket immediately you apply and leave.

The above mentioned points are some of the factors militating against youths when they go about searching for job.

My advice to the youths of this great country is that they should never loose hope. One with God is majority. When God says is your time, no man or woman will stop you. No matter the condition of things today, it can never last forever. Your destiny can be delayed but not denied. He that laughs last always laughs the best. Believe in yourself, have confidence in yourself, say to yourself everyday that you will make it, work hard, pray to God, you will see the finger of God in your life and you will be amazed.

Have you ever come across little children who actually make use of vulgar languages like it was their nursery rhyme? It Beats your imagination, right? I have often wondered myself, who takes responsibility for this looseness? or is it just me that happens to be outdated? Hmmm, pardon me ooo. In retrospect, I remember growing up, there were places and words that were prohibited thus as a part of training, our association with friends were well checkmated. To a great extent, it really prevented some excesses, here and there. Time is evolving, likewise our norms. There is so much laxity now. Who is to blame? Parents? Teachers?Guardian? Whatever the case may be, there are loopholes and those loopholes must be attended to. We cannot afford to loose our children as a result of our own carelessness. These children are precious jewel we must keep, well protected and secured. We must be u
